Unlike typical "monster-of-the-week" shows, Gransazer presents an epic war between three ancient tribes—the , Wind , and Water Tribes—who awaken in modern-day Japan. A fourth tribe, the Earth Tribe , emerges later to unite them against a common alien enemy, the War Gods . Each warrior controls a powerful beast-like mecha called a Chouseishin (Super Star God), which can combine into a giant robot.
