This works because the bootloader ignores the user partition entirely. If the camera has a physical hardware fault, this fails. But for software locks, it is a silver bullet.
If you are locked out, you can use the on your PC to initiate a reset without a physical button.

A: Use Dahua’s "ARP/Ping" method: Set your PC to 10.0.0.100 , then ping 10.0.0.101 while power-cycling the camera. The camera will temporarily adopt that IP.
: Some older or specialized models can be triggered into a reset state by using an RJ-45 loopback connector on the Ethernet port for approximately 30 seconds during boot-up. Dip Switches
