Rapid Intel Storage - Technology F6flpyx64nonvmdzip Install
Quick guide — Installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology (F6 driver: f6flpyx64nonvmd.zip) Notes:
Assume Windows 10/11 on an Intel-based PC with an NVMe/SATA RAID or AHCI setup needing the F6 (mass-storage) driver during Windows setup. Use latest Intel RST from Intel’s download center for your chipset and OS. The F6 driver package name you gave looks like a typical Intel F6 driver zip used for Windows Setup. Adjust steps if your system uses different firmware (UEFI) or driver bundle.
What you’ll need
USB flash drive (>=8 GB) for Windows installation media. Second USB drive (>=1 GB) for the F6 driver files (or incorporate into the Windows install media). The f6flpyx64nonvmd.zip (or equivalent Intel RST F6 driver zip). The Windows ISO or tool to make Windows install USB (Microsoft Media Creation Tool). Backup of important data before making disk changes. rapid intel storage technology f6flpyx64nonvmdzip install
Step 1 — Prepare Windows install USB
Create Windows install media from Microsoft ISO using Rufus or Media Creation Tool (UEFI/GPT recommended). Leave this USB as your primary Windows installer.
Step 2 — Prepare F6 driver USB
On another PC, extract f6flpyx64nonvmd.zip. Inside you should see an x64 folder (and .inf/.sys/.cat files). Copy the extracted folder root to a separate small USB drive (do not compress).
Step 3 — BIOS/UEFI settings
Reboot target PC, enter UEFI/BIOS (usually F2/Del/F12). If installing in RAID mode (Intel RST RAID), set SATA mode to RAID. If using AHCI, select AHCI. If using NVMe and modern Windows/UEFI, you usually can keep default UEFI boot; F6 floppy drivers are primarily for legacy installs or certain RAID controllers. Save and exit. Step 4 — Begin Windows installation and load F6 driver
Boot from Windows install USB. Proceed until the screen that asks “Where do you want to install Windows?” (disk selection). If your target storage device does NOT appear, click “Load driver.” Insert the F6 driver USB, click Browse, and point to the extracted folder containing the INF files. Select the Intel Rapid Storage driver shown, click Next. Windows will load the driver and then the disks/RAID volume should appear. If multiple drivers appear, pick the one matching your controller (Intel RST VMD or non-VMD — choose non-VMD if your zip is nonvmd). Continue installation.
