Scholars generally agree that using dhikr or Qur’anic verses as ringtones is makruh (disliked) if it leads to disrespect—for example, if the phone rings in a bathroom or while the user is in a state of impurity. However, the falls under a nasheed category, not direct Qur’an recitation. Since tasbih phrases are praises, many contemporary scholars permit it provided the user is mindful of where and when the phone rings.
