The story follows (Diane Lane), who lives a seemingly perfect life in Westchester, New York, with her devoted husband Edward (Richard Gere) and their young son. A chance encounter in Soho leads her into a passionate, whirlwind affair with a young French book dealer, Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez).
