The game is set in an open-world environment across three different time periods: Ancient China (1846), the Mughal Empire (1650), and Tsarist Russia (1918). Players can choose from three assassins: Shao Jun, a Chinese assassin; Arbaaz Mir, an Indian assassin; and Nikolai Orelov, a Russian assassin. Each story is separate but intertwined with the Assassin's Creed universe.
