Here’s a practical guide for Adobe Speech to Text v2.1.6 as it works within Premiere Pro 2025 .
Note: Speech to Text is now a built-in workspace in Premiere Pro (no separate plugin installation required for v2.1.6). Version 2.1.6 refers to the speech-to-text language pack/engine update.
1. Check Your Version

2. Access Speech to Text
Open a project with a sequence containing dialogue. Go to Window → Text (or Workspaces → Captions & Graphics ). Click the Transcript tab (if not visible, click + to add it).
3. Generate a Transcript
Select your sequence in the timeline. In the Transcript window, click Create transcript . Choose:
Audio channel (e.g., Left, Right, or Mixed) Language (must match speaker’s language) Speaker labeling (automatic or none)
Click Transcribe .
Processing time depends on sequence length and your GPU.
